Multilingual community
Colégio Monte Maior is a predominantly Portuguese school that also welcomes students of other nationalities. We encourage respect and cultural exchange, enriching learning and broadening students’ horizons.
Focus on English excellence
English starts from an early age. A strong, engaging Cambridge-certified approach prepares students to communicate effectively and stand out academically, internationally and professionally.
Languages for global citizenship
Each language opens a window to the world. In the 3rd Cycle, students choose Spanish or French as their third language, developing the linguistic and cultural awareness to shape their own path with confidence.
Continuous assessment
We monitor students’ progress in English through regular internal assessments and examinations covering reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Portuguese - mother tongue
At CMM, from Nursery through to Secondary School, students build a strong foundation in Portuguese as their mother tongue, developing their reading, writing and communication skills.
English - second language
Children take their first steps in English from Nursery. This progressive learning journey culminates in ISP’s International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS), opening doors to a successful global future.
Spanish or French - complementary language
In CMM’s 3rd Cycle, students explore Spanish or French through real-life conversation, expanding their vocabulary and strengthening their understanding of contemporary contexts, while developing global awareness and intercultural communication skills.

Through Cambridge School, CMM students access specialist courses that take their English to an international level of excellence, building confidence and gaining certifications that open doors around the world.
Through ISP’s International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS), multilingualism comes to life as students use English, Spanish and French in real debates, projects and exchanges, turning languages into meaningful connections with the world.
