In the 3rd Cycle, progress is celebrated continuously and in a student-centred way, recognising personal growth beyond final grades.
Students showcase their learning through presentations, interdisciplinary projects, exhibitions, teacher feedback and the recognition of key skills such as creativity and problem solving. Traditional assessments are combined with innovative approaches, including portfolios, self-assessment, peer assessment, rubrics and practical activities.
Personalised learning supports each student through differentiated plans, tailored tasks and individual guidance, encouraging autonomy and preparing them for future transitions with confidence.
In the 3rd Cycle, students take part in engaging lessons and challenging extracurricular activities that strengthen critical thinking, creativity, problem solving, autonomy and resilience. Artistic Expression and Emotion sessions further develop empathy, self-awareness and personal growth.
Through Citizenship and Development projects, digital citizenship, socio-emotional learning and participation in the Student Council, students enhance their communication skills, social and emotional development, civic responsibility and ethical awareness.
Digital skills are further strengthened through the iMonte Project, which integrates tablets into classroom learning and helps accelerate students’ progress.
Portuguese is the mother tongue of most CIMM students, while English plays a central role as a global language. It is introduced gradually from Pre-School and developed throughout all cycles of Basic Education.
In the 3rd Cycle, students also begin a second foreign language, choosing between Spanish and French. Learning an additional language enhances academic performance across several subjects, as multilingualism strengthens problem solving, critical thinking, memory, concentration and cognitive flexibility.
In the 3rd Cycle at Colégio Monte Maior, ISP’s International Learning Opportunities (ILOs) connect students to the world.
Through experiences such as Model United Nations, TEDxYouth and global arts and science projects, students collaborate with young people from more than 25 countries worldwide. They strengthen their communication skills, develop leadership and grow in confidence, while broadening their horizons, valuing cultural diversity and taking meaningful steps towards becoming active, responsible global citizens.
In the 3rd Cycle at Colégio Integrado Monte Maior in Lisbon, the Future Pathways programme gives students the guidance they need to reflect on their next steps and start shaping their future.
Students take part in the school’s Career Fair and events with external organisations, where they meet representatives from prestigious universities and hear inspiring testimonials from CIMM alumni. They also gain first-hand insight into different career paths through direct contact with professionals across a range of fields.
