Colégio Monte Maior received an Honourable Mention in the first edition of the “From the Street to the Playground” project, organised by the Eco-Schools programme of ABAAE – Associação Bandeira Azul de Ambiente e Educação, in partnership with Girodmedias. The challenge, which brought together 82 participating schools, invited school communities to rethink the reuse of used banners, transforming them into new solutions for playgrounds while promoting creativity, sustainability and the principles of the circular economy. As part of the category for schools in the 2nd and 3rd Cycles, the project presented by Colégio Monte Maior, “Chess Masters”, proposes the creation of a large-scale chessboard measuring 5 by 5 metres, using reused banners to create a new space for chess activities within the school community. This recognition celebrates the creativity and relevance of the proposal and reinforces Colégio Monte Maior’s commitment to an education that promotes sustainability, creativity, student participation and the enhancement of school spaces. Colégio Monte Maior congratulates all the students and teachers involved in the project and thanks Eco-Schools/ABAAE for recognising their work.
