On 26 March, Colégio Monte Maior was represented at TEDx Youth 2026, held at Cines Yelmo in Malaga and organised by The British School of Malaga, an ISP school. The event brought together 15 students from ISP partner schools under the theme “The Shape of Possibility”, inviting young people to reflect on innovative ideas and their potential impact on the future. Representing Colégio Monte Maior was Laura Detier, from Year 11B, accompanied by English teacher Sara Lemos. Laura was selected through an internal process as part of the school’s Young Voices programme, which involved 26 students and several elimination rounds. Throughout the process, participants developed and presented TEDx-style talk proposals, supported by their English teachers and peer feedback. Laura stood out for her fluency in English, public speaking skills, originality and the clear connection she established with the event theme. The Young Voices project plays an important role in developing students’ transferable skills, including independence, critical thinking and communication. Throughout the programme, participants explored storytelling techniques and refined their public speaking in a structured, collaborative environment. Experiences such as this contribute to an education that extends beyond the academic context, enabling students to apply relevant skills throughout their school and professional journeys. Taking part in initiatives such as TEDx Youth reflects Colégio Monte Maior’s commitment, as a member of ISP, to offering educational opportunities that prepare students for the challenges of a global context.
